We are one the largest copper mining companies in the world with significant copper reserves.
All of our mining operations are located in Peru and Mexico and we conduct exploration activities in Peru, Mexico and Chile. We own and operate the following mines and metallurgical complexes:
Four Open-Pit Copper Mines

- Cuajone and Toquepala, located in southern Peru, produced 349,011 tons of copper in 2008 (152,946 tons at Toquepala and 196,065 tons at Cuajone).
- Cananea, located in northern Mexico, produced 15,605 tons of copper in 2008. It is among the world's largest copper mines in terms of reserves, and has the longest remaining mine life of any major open-pit copper mine in the world, based on current production levels.
- La Caridad, located in northern Mexico, produced 118,893 tons of copper in 2008.

Three Metallurgical Processing Complexes

- Ilo complex, located in southern Peru, comprises a modern copper smelter and a copper refinery; both of them, among the world largest copper processing plants, a precious metal refinery and two sulfuric acid plant.
- La Caridad complex, located in northern Mexico, is a modern metallurgical facility that includes one of the world's largest copper smelters and one of the largest copper refineries; a precious metal refinery, a copper rod manufacturing plant and a sulfuric acid plant.
- San Luis de Potosí complex, located in central Mexico, comprises an electrolytic zinc refinery, a copper smelter and a sulfuric acid plant.

Underground Mines and Related Processing Facilities

- We own and operate five underground mines that produce various metals such as zinc, copper, silver and gold; as well as a coal mine and related production facilities, all of which are located in Mexico.
For the year 2008, SCC had net sales of US$4,851 million and net earnings of US$1,407 million. We produced 488,928 tons of copper, 16,390 tons of molybdenum, 12.3 million ounces of silver and 106,920 tons of zinc in 2008, approximately 56% of which was sold outside of Latin America.
